Filter option is actually the one that is responsible for the orders' view on the page. If you'd like to display the Reports that meet some specific time requirements only, please select the time period at the right side of the page and hit Apply button.
You can also configure the way your orders are displayed at the main Orders page. There is a gray box on top of all columns that says : "Drag a column header here to group by that column".
Whenever you drag any column header there, orders will be grouped in Categories by this selection. You can Expand/Collapse any category by doubleclicking on it. When any category is opened, you'll be able to see full orders description.
There's also a possibility to build a "category tree" using this filter type. Let's say you want all your orders grouped by Payment Method and each Payment Method by different Card Types. Than simply drag Card type header into the grey field and drop it behind Payment Method. You can also set Card Type as a category with Payment Method subcategory. Just drop Card Type ahead of Payment Method.
When you drag Column header back into the table, its column of values will be placed where you drop it.
